I am Soofia Mahmood.

My journey as a photographic artist has been an expression of the politics of my identity as a woman and as a human. Using everyday life objects as props and very often my own self as a model, I create high-contrast visuals with the purpose of initiating uncomfortable but important dialogues around the concepts of gender, race, religion, and their connection with power, oppression, and inequity. Originated in Pakistan, immigrated to Canada, and am currently based in Toronto. A non-profit Communications professional with a love for philosophy and art.
